San Francisco summers are famously chilly, with hot inland valleys pulling cold, foggy ocean gusts thru the city. June 2025 was exceptional, among the coldest since 1982. The measured daily maximums at SFO did not exceed 65°F /18°C from June 3 until end of June (pic @/nytimes)

July 15th will be my Bēs-centennial birthday! (pronounced: biece (like piece) centennial). If "semi-centennial" in Latin means "half-century," then two-thirds would be based on Latin for "two-thirds" (bēs or bēssis), to coin a new term (shown: balloons from the future).

There's a litter of foxes under our neighbor's deck. There's no fences here so see them (see pic). My next door neighbor saw them while driving, called her husband, saying, "I saw some foxes on the way to work!" He said, "How do you know they were on their way to work." She hung up on him.

Here's what my 1 week supply of epigentic tuning for longevity looks like, 1 from row white and 1 from row purple each day. Says Mor.health's longevity MD: "that's nothing!"

This will become a favorite art piece: "Seven syllables of a haiku obscured by a vegan hotdog" by @/taj_bourgeois. It's:
- a haiku
- a photo with eponymous title
- an exact description of what you see
- math: I see 17 of 10, how many hidden?
- ethics: what's really under there?

Q: "How's my Serval?"
A: "Food!"
Q: "Do you want food!"
A: *stops, stares, runs to kitchen*

This is really geeky... But the thing I think about when I see this digit sequence 1, 3, 2, 0 on my screen just now (and then looping back to the starting 1) is that when expressed in 2-bit binary, each next digit can be created by changing only 1 bit in the current digit, and never both bits.

Jabari the Serval (L) sunning himself this morning in a warm corner with forest views, while the nearly 20-year-old Zabu (R) finds quiet space on an old couch in the basement.

Did a medical body scan to assess fat, muscle, bone, joints. Current total "visceral" (organ) fat was 0.450g /1 lb... Which is very lean, and reduces all leading health risks. This comes from Intermittent Fasting, Low Carb diet, and a longevity lifestyle.

Jabari the Serval right now, asleep on my foot.

An awesome graph showing (with ranges) the degree of processing of different foods found in Chain grocery stores. In general, the more your food is processed, the more it contributes to chronic diseases and early aging. From: www.scientificamerican.com/article/whic...

Our rural hillside town had 2 adult mountain lions, and a litter of 3 cubs. Sadly, the cubs' mom was struck and killed last week. After a week of video cam sightings, @/CaliforniaDFW Dept of Fish and Wildlife located the cubs last night, and @oaklandzoo.bsky.social will raise them.

As an MD, I know that at conception (see White House order wording, below) all humans begin as biological females, and then during development about half regress the ovaries and make male reproductive cells. At conception, though, zero have male reproductive cells. So, by law, we are all now female.

We had two holiday cards that sum up my life at this time: from ⁦‪@SenAdamSchiff‬⁩ and family (thanks for being on the forward flank of defending democracy), and from Lance Ikegawa, a Hollywood fx builder and maker who made original Star Wars Wookie costumes and other classic creatures.

My home is in a human/wildlife interface: Forested hills, steep slopes, and 1500 homes over 6400 acres. We look a LOT like the hills now burning in Los Angeles, though not as dry. I now think about living in nature (views, fox, coyote, puma) vs. leaving and putting firestorm risk behind us.

Mommy puma and 3 cubs run though a neighbor's property in Portola Valley, California on video last night. We have 2 cougar families in our wooded hillside town.

Just read "Toward Eternity" by @antonhur.com. This post-Singularity novel explores what it means to be "human" and "me." Different characters record their experiences into a notebook/diary, mixing prose, poetry, and music from original and instantiated consciousnesses.

In my longevity startups, mor.health and mor.doctor, our app calculates how regular your exercise is, if you use an @/apple watch, @oura.bsky.social ring, or @fitbit.bsky.social band. Here, I reached intensity and duration workout thresholds all but 3 days last month.

Look what I did 12 years ago today... This is my screenshot. There are also 11 twelves in the pic, and it was taken twelve years ago, so that makes 12, incorporating that by reference.
