It's a bitterly cold, windy day here in the Northwoods of WI. From my kitchen window I can see goldfinches just chowing down on the seedheads of my anise hyssop, in spite of the 3 feeders just yards away. This is one of the many reasons we grow natives and leave them uncut for the winter. Love it!

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s
