On this day in 2023, we lost Judy Heumann, a pioneering disability rights activist. Her legacy is one we look to and continue to learn from.

RFK Jr appeals to people because he offers a comforting lie: illness and disability are caused by things you can control so that it doesn't happen to you. For a society deeply afraid of disability, it sounds nice. But it's important to remind folks that it doesn't actually work that way.
