Yup 😱 on HBO Max. Sadly only one episode out right now, but I watched that and then the algorithm sent me to a bunch of other baking shows that are Christmas specific. So now I’m watching those.

Also, I do adore that Hemsworth in this is basically just the Black Mirror equivalent of Thor. I’m glad he got to claim the right all Australians are assigned at birth (it’s written on the back of our birth certificates, where our Rights of a Citizen used to be): the right to be in a Mad Max film.

This film is funnier than I was expecting, this is a delight. ‘A citadel’, a ‘a what a del?’ I think being Australian it’s also extra funny to me because there truly is something extremely Australian about that specific interaction. Our accents - which I’m not fond of - are inherently kind of funny.

The problem with the supposed radical messaging trying to stagger to its feet in this film is: Stephen King is the least radical or revolutionary person on earth. And why not? All the systems of the world are working great for him. So there is no punch behind these ideas when he tries them on.

There was beautiful, nihilistic fever dream buried somewhere in this nonsense. A Heath Ledger’s Joker style race to oblivion that we could have followed Jenni on. But the truth is that every lead character in a Stephen King story is a Stephen King insert and his perspective is tragically limited.

Hopefully the company will neutralise the beige man lol
