People need to bring back TL;DR just for this guy because JESUS his head is so far up his own ass...

I'm hoping that this is a Samus Returns vs. Dread situation, where a long dormant part of the series gets return to form that's great, if flawed in some areas, and then it later gets a sequel that takes its ideas and fleshes them out to become one of the all-time greats.

As for what's good, the exploration is as fun as ever, the boss fights are great, and I liked the side characters more than I thought I would.

As for what could use improvements, the desert is pretty bland, some of the regular enemies are annoying, and the upgrades are kinda bog standard.

As for where it places next to the 2D games... I think I would put it above Zero Mission and Samus Returns, but I *might* still prefer Super, Fusion, and Dread (again, probably needs a few more replays before I decide on that). I still recommend it, though.

Back in the days when it was just a Valve launcher, before they took over the world...
