10400HB3438sam002 - 184 - LRB104 10941 RTM 26952 a 1 (70 ILCS 3615/2.46 new) 2 Sec. 2.46. Transit Support Fee. 3 (a) As used in this Section, a "transit-support 4 transaction" includes a toll at any toll plaza or similar 5 location operated by the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority 6 within the metropolitan region that any vehicle is required to 7 pay. 8 (b) The Board may, by ordinance, impose a transit support 9 fee to aid and assist public transportation within the 10 metropolitan region that is (i) imposed on all transit support 11 transactions and (ii) payable by each person required to pay 12 the toll corresponding to each transit support transaction. 13 The transit support fee shall be imposed on each transit 14 support transaction occurring within the metropolitan region, 15 and the transit support fee shall be uniform for all classes of 16 vehicles. 17 (c) The maximum transit support fee shall be for each 18 transit support transaction of $0.50, and the transit support 19 fee may not exceed $1.00 per day for any vehicle. The Board may 20 establish a program for a reduced transit support fee to be 21 imposed on low-income drivers. 22 (d) The Board must, by ordinance, provide either for (i) 23 the collection of the transit support fee by the Authority 24 directly or (ii) the Authority to enter into an 25 intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois State Toll 26 Highway Authority providing for collection of the transit
