BAC Lightning F.6, Midland Air Museum, Coventry. A fast-climbing (50,000 ft/min) interceptor, developed from the English Electric P.1B research aircraft (1st flight Apr. 1964), this aircraft served with Nos 5 & 11 Sqns, RAF. It was armed with 4 x 30mm cannons and IR air-to-air missiles (see Alt) 🛩️⚔️📍

Avro Vulcan B.2, XL319, ex-44 Sqn, RAF. This classic delta-winged bomber was a mainstay of Britain's nuclear deterrent. It was able to carry 21,000lb of conventional bombs or a stand-off Blue Steel weapon or a WE177 thermonuclear bomb. The NELSAM museum in Sunderland later bought it for £5000 🛩️⚔️📍
