@jamesoff ugh, is it a Foxess inverter paired to Home assistant?
December 6, 2025 at 7:40 PM
@jamesoff I’ve been using FreeNAS (FreeBSD based, renamed TrueNAS Core) and recently I’ve migrated it to TrueNAS Scale (Linux based). There was always something wrong with Time Machine backups - usually around ZFS snapshots created on the server.

@henk @uberduck @esphome what does that mean to you?

@jamesoff I’m using influxdb for home assistant, is there an exporter for that, or am I fine going through HA?

@via with the way they keep their software m closed and how proprietary their parts are I don’t think it’s so easy. It just works (until it doesn’t) and it’s probably not as easy to get the right parts and calibrate it.

@via but things in printers break, and how easy it is to fix a bambu vs. any other printer?
October 30, 2025 at 11:30 PM
@stroughtonsmith you know, it’s a phone;) I’m using mine (usually) with AirPods when calling, but nowadays most people don’t use anything but speakerphone so that may be a non issue :D

@stroughtonsmith what about the grease coming not only from your palms but also face? Do you think it would be fine after few years of usage (probably more regular than an iPad)?
October 23, 2025 at 10:30 PM
@stroughtonsmith @daringfireball sure. Have a -10€ option for no charger, or + 20€ for a better one

At this point even taking an encrypted backup on my Mac failed a few times before eventually succeeding. After the restore I indeed got more than half of my iPhone’s space back. So I don’t think iOS handles it better, and because of a more closed nature of the OS it’s hard to do something. On […]

@via nice! I'll probably do that once my warranty is over (together with some cleaning/thermal paste replacement)
October 8, 2025 at 12:19 PM
@via what’s that? A replacement shell?
October 8, 2025 at 8:41 AM
@samhenrigold lol, I thought you were kidding, but it works on 26.1 beta :)

@hornet thanks for the giveaway

@stroughtonsmith I have never had that experience, as probably most people, but if something goes wrong you’re fucked. I wonder how often that happens.

@stroughtonsmith @rileytestut with all the badwill (is this a word yet?) happening in this case I’m just giving them the benefit of the doubt and saying they probably just don’t give a flying fuck. There are more backup/transfer/restore bugs they should be on top of - like restoring TestFlight […]
