Most of the time I'm of the opinion that my art is really just a bunch of crap, that I have no talent, no originality, no imagination... and then, I look around my studio and I'm amazed by what I see. I think, "Did I paint that?" and "Is that actually one of my drawings?"

Thanks! I like to keep references to a minimum. I've seen too many newer readers going from book to book and site to site, thinking they have to memorize every possible meaning for a card. No, no, no! My approach is "learn the basics, then trust your intuition."
