My followers may be shocked and disappointed by my admitting that I don't keep a note of the effect of ball colour on our performances. Neither, I suspect, Does Waldorf. Credit him for blaming this, though, rather than James "luxury player" Berry (1 goal, 1 assist today.)

Only after posting did I properly look at the bike. It's either got a Formula 1 wheel on the front, or it's an exercise bike, and useless for sending an apprentice to run errands on, unless you're sending him down to Ryland Works for a bucket of compressed air.

Our chap was given the name "Cephas" at birth, but known as "Sep" throughout his playing career.

The veteran centre-half Herbert Tyler, without a club since leaving Chesterfield in 1924, made a second debut, having been persuaded out of retirement to add experience. The Spireites’ goal came from a triallist named Albert Kemp, who plays for Hartshead in the Sheffield City League.

and scored twice, and Whitfield weighed in with a third goal. The best player in blue was Ted Roseboom, who revelled in the heavy conditions and did the work of two men when his wingmate Fisher was tied up by a good fullback.

The reserves lost 2-1 at home to Barnsley.

As far as I'm aware it was once thought that the club had been founded in 1866, but subsequent research indicated that 1867 was a more reliable formation year, and the club adopted that. Fancy that, eh? 😁

Also, a lesson in being prepared. Fulham's John Scott was sent off with 5 mins to go. We helped Fulham's appeal by sending a copy of the match video. They go to the appeal without watching it and pop the video in, only to find it ran out a minute or two before Scott was set off! 😁 2/2

Stevenage become the 137th team to have a penalty given against them while playing us, and the 131st team to see at least one nestle in the back of their net. Rochdale have been penalised the most, with 20 kicks being given to us.
