Calm under the waves
I am really grateful for the friends I've made here. Our super crafty friend had us over to make porch pots today.

Is this a Midwest thing? I'd never seen a porch pot before I moved here.

Well this was good and frightening. It made me really sad for parents today.

These tech companies have a ton to answer for.

I just finished Bad Company by Megan Greenwell and now I'm in need of a blood pressure pill. Private equity ruins everything.

It was too beautiful for me to worry about self-preservation...

Just finished a book that tied high crime rates to lead contamination. When the lead came out of gas, guess what went down?

Literally was thinking about how the breakout star of that show was Teri Hatcher. This was reportedly the most downloaded image on the internet in 1995:

I'm always happy and a little sad coming here. Always grateful that I got to visit with people that meant so much to me.

I read Long Island Compromise by @taffyakner.bsky.social the same weekend I watched "A Real Pain". I feel like I'm very well versed in the theories regarding immigrants and the destruction of wealth by the third generation.

Late to this train #ssdgm

Today, I had a very long two part appointment that required a lot of waiting between 9 and 130 and I got most of this read. Fast and very fun read. If you listen to the pod it was like an extension of their openings.

Just under the wire for the year, I finished Say Nothing, by Patrick Radden Keefe. The Troubles were a historical blind spot for me. put it on hold months ago, before the Hulu series (which I haven't seen).

Finished "Cue the Sun!", by @emilynussbaum.bsky.social tonight. I haven't watched a lot of reality TV so I was surprised at some of the historical context of its origins. The weaving of TV history with historical pop culture was pretty interesting. Great book!

I finished "Burn It Down" by @moryan.bsky.social on Sunday. It was eye opening and kind of devastating. We've been deprived of a great deal of talent because of the systems that uphold awful people. Great Read!
