Good morning it's chickens

@ksonney.redwombat.social.ap.brid.gy Hi!
Somehow I thought that the "rent a chick" 2 week visit would be temporary and here we are, 2 days later, researching coops. IF you have time, can you recommend a decent starter chicken coop? We're in SC, so heat is more of a concern than killing winters.

I saw a mantis this morning and thought you might like to see her(?) too :)
SC, seen on my car, relocated to the shrubbery using a bit of plastic.

Hair WILL still escape, but less so than other braids, and it doesn't hurt the base of my skull from laying on a tight ponytail.

Words are hard so I did a speedy video of this twisty braid thing I've done when hospitalized. It keeps my hair from getting tangled in the back better than a French braid, and doesn't have the hard knot of a hair tie at the base of my skull.

So far I've had great results with prairie moon nursery's single species trays. Completely different goal than yours (I'm trying to make a pollinator garden out of a clay lawn), but looks like they have your species of interest?

Anybody know what this plant is? Growing in full shade in South Carolina. These are a couple feet tall but there are some shoulder height. Dunno how big they get or if they flower because we've only lived here a few months. Deciding whether to remove all of them or just the ones in bad spots.

My phone refuses to acknowledge that birds exist but I'm VERY excited about the little guys visiting the window feeders so let's look at them together :D
(If you're worried about window strikes, me too! I keep the blinds lowered so there's a visual obstacle between birds and a concussion.)

The chipping sparrows are all competing to become The Roundest Bird. Cute little boogers.

Maybe in 3 years I'll have a blueberry harvest? I have 5 small blueberry bushes (3 kinds of rabbiteye & 2 self fertile southern hybrids) in built up mounds of soil amendment & pine bark mulch on top of the clay. Will add soil and mulch as the plants grow & roll back the rocks yearly to accommodate.

Feeling vaguely optimistic about getting peaches this year, provided nothing eats them before they're ready.

Let's try video! #bird 🕊️🐦
The Carolina wrens are skittish, but the mystery sparrows are used to me existing behind the window and moving around a bit.

Any better?

Do these help?

Please tell me what kind of sparrow these little boogers are. South Carolina #bird 🐦🕊️

..... So I just moved to SC, trying to ID plants in my yard to see what I should murder. Is this on the murder list?

TEXTURE
I'm turning after each round because I personally dislike the twist from crocheting in the round without turning.

DIFFERENT DYE LOTS!
DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL NOW!!
Welp. Guess I've crocheted a striped sweater because I'm not frogging it. 🧶
I'll do the pockets next, then the hood.
December 31, 2024 at 11:37 AM
Original crochet pattern suggests the usual front pouch for a hoodie but I'd rather have side seam pockets so I'm doing that. 🧶
I've also flared the body out a bit as I approach the hips to better fit my shape.

Wrist warmers! 🧶
HDC slip stitch done in back loop only, chain 36, 32 rows (or more if needed to close around your wrist / hands easily), sew the sides together except for thumb hole. For thumb I decreased at start and end of each row until I had enough thumb coverage.

Forgot to post when I finished it... The hood didn't work for my son as written so I winged it. 🧶
