Ways to remove/soften: Encode angle continuously with (cosθ, sinθ) across two channels. Use a cyclic colormap smoothed at 0/2π (e.g., HSV with a small blur at the wrap). Slightly randomize/rotate hue by a smooth function of radius so the seam doesn’t align to one sharp curve. Show angle only where |z| lies in a band and fade to neutral near the branch cut. Closing note: The two big basins and their intricate boundary are real; the thin red seam and its pulled-back loops are where the hue wrap is carried by the map.
