Absolutely horrible for museums and libraries. The arts continue to be decimated: bookriot.com/imls-gutted/
The Institute for Museum and Library Services Was Just Gutted
DOGE fired all IMLS employees and closed down their emails. It is assumed all funding for 2025 coming from the federal agency will not be happening.

It’s almost like they want to keep America stupid—less financially stable & thus more controllable.
“Republican lawmakers are considering a change to tax policy that would make college more expensive for students receiving grants and scholarships to help pay their tuition bill.”

I remember reading this article back in 2016. The interview it cites appears to be from 1990, yet people I’ve mentioned this to seem unaware. Seems important given recent events
Donald Trump's ex-wife once said Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed
"If, I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

In the 1930s, Victor Klemperer and others made the decision to bear witness, knowing that one day history would look in horror at what the Nazis were doing. Bearing witness today is vital. Eyes wide open as one govt agency after next is MAGAfied. Eyes wide open at what is happening in our names.

Bilingualism is associated with a bigger brain. Similar to other cognitively demanding skills, it leads to dynamic subcortical structural adaptations which can be nonlinear, in line with expansion-renormalisation models of experience-dependent neuroplasticity. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Important to emphasize that this is projection. It is the radical right that has been committing violence in the U.S., not those who support liberal democracy.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "These people would line us up in front of a firing squad & kill us if they could. We know exactly who the Democrats are ... Democrats, until you start writing big checks to Republicans & start voting Republican ... then we can start talking about unity."

i used to specialize in teaching private lessons to adult beginners, and some of them got IMMENSELY frustrated at first when they couldn't make "perfect" music quickly. But that was almost always quickly turned into utter joy when they finally got down a skill or a piece they'd been working on.
