My posts feel like this sometimes, one topic linking things on to the next

Shame the Krypton Factor isn't on TV these days, I'd be great for the general knowledge round and the tangents it took 😅

New Zealand would've also had a census - until they delayed 2011's by a couple of years, so they're now on a "3's and 8's" cycle

They normally hold their census in March. Christchurch knows what happened two weeks prior to census day in 2011 - something about the earth moving under their feet. 🫨

The 1981 census had them at ~1.5 million, as opposed to ~4m these days. I'm not sure that's apples and oranges - the Sunshine Coast wasn't really considered a full part of the SEQ statistical area until a fair bit later (unlike the Gold Coast), but mirrors how much the state as a whole had bulged

That sort of makes sense, given the owners and the chains are generally separate.

Kinda difficult to imagine Brisbane pre-Expo, pre-South Bank development, during-Joh 😅. But then, I could say the same about Sydney and Darling Harbour, a similar project for the harbour city's bicentennial.

Perth's Sheraton in the 70s (now the Pan Pacific). The original Hyatt Regency in Adelaide in the late 80s (now the Intercontinental).

I like how the Brisbane one at least acknowledged their former life as the Sheraton as they put up a web page on their 40th anniversary last y... in 2024. (Oops 😂)

That includes to yourself, Spi; 2025 wasn't exactly the kindest to you either

Like, it would be interesting, but Brisbane is not the Gold Coast (for one, the GCCC puts on multiple midnight bungers down the coast, plus you have the whole esplanade at Surfers and Broadbeach, say) and I'm really not that crazy on fighting for vantage spots that would be gone by about 9 or 10pm

eg. ABC Kids and ABC News picking up listings from the similar TV *radio* channels (ie. Kids Listen and NewsRadio)

Like I said, most don't do weird stuff like pay movies anymore (a menu item to do Chromecast is about it) so it just ends up an annoyance more than anything

The 80s retro theme for the graphic trumpeting the lowering of fares to the current 1-zone level ($3.50, less SmartRider discounts) - indeed, removing zones entirely - is a bit less unexpected, for instance

At this point, between this and arguably the purple CAT to the QEII health precinct, you kinda realise that the initialism is slowly starting to empty of its initial name of "Central Area Transit", too...

That seems dumb on an account with only half a dozen posts, but I mean historically. 😂

You'd still be able to cancel if on online renewal - it's just that 6-month and 12-month payment would have the option of being invoiced with the option to just let it lapse, rather than auto-renewing. Some businesses probably prefer it that way.

This. You don't get redirect automatically, but they might offer that as part of the application process.

My Australian experience may not apply to the US but they did do name matching on that - looks like USPS does have individual name redirect separate from all-of-family. Ask them.

And particularly, 2026 is the point where I lock that LLM shit (however little I used it) out of my life, once and for all.

Glovepaws crossed, ISTG. 😩
