So loud, so many “songs”, always seem kinda grumpy and aggressive for such a tiny bird. Perfect state bird for South Carolina. I love them so much.

Love our zoo, it’s such a great facility for a city this size. My kids have their favorites to see each time but they know that that big thic boi is mine. I used to work for DNR and dealt with alligators and they are just absolute ancient creatures who have no F’s to give.

My brother went to graduate school at Mississippi State. While there for a Carolina-State tailgate one of his colleagues referred to South Carolina as “up north” and I have rarely been so offended.

My AP US students always realize early on that we read/deconstruct a bunch of American Lit along the way. Art is not created in a vacuum and to really dig into manifest destiny, nationalism, and identity you’re gonna need to read some Whitman. And I’m probably gonna pair it with de Tocqueville.

My theory is your favorite Cohen Brothers movie is based on where you are culturally “from”. I’m from South Carolina, live near a WPA built lake, and teach history for a living so this film is immaculate as far as I’m concerned.
