There’s sort of an element of *almost* getting it but refusing to take the last step. David Roth and others have been writing (quite well!) for years about how Trump has no depth or real interiority, and what that means about the societal disease that keeps rewarding him. As you say, skill issue!

My mom did seem confused and maybe even a little disturbed at the question, but she doesn’t understand The Lifestyle

Brendel this comes across as bitter and vindictive. It may feel good now, but John Fetterman isn't going to want to hire you if you leave this up

i read a blog where @mckinneykelsey.bsky.social said she used Brick, which is a thing that makes you get up and walk to where the rfid thing is to scan and unlock your phone. Have had moderate success myself (and will lock my phone after hitting post out of shame)

Oh I’m so glad I saw this, just bought a ticket! Looking forward to it, just finished Witch King earlier this year (and of course Murderbot is a top 5 sci-fi series for me)

I don't even like Nancy Pelosi, but she could at least point to 2006-2008 to prove that she has some kind of larger mandate than her district. what has Jeffries ever accomplished besides getting picked by Pelosi?

this bozo is blocked, but the obvious point would seem to be that it's pretty goofy for Jeffries to be big timing Mamdani when Mamdani has already had to persuade more voters in his off-cycle primary than Jeffries has in any election of his career

I’m not a big fabrics nerd myself, but love reading this kind of thing from people who are. I try to have a wardrobe of mostly CPUs just by virtue of clicking on blogs like this whenever I see them, so thank you!

I read this as “Smiths banger” and was initially very confused because Morrissey really doesn’t strike me as having a lot of common ground with Fanon

I can’t say I *enjoyed* reading this for all the obvious reasons, but I did appreciate it.

I like the way stuff like this (and the RIF’d federal workers series) lowers the level of abstraction from rhetoric and policies and statistics to really concrete stories about people

Best example I can think of is Truth and Reconciliation, but it’s hard to imagine that what I learned in high school in 2005 is getting the full story, especially in the context of white pro-apartheid South Africans in 2025

Has any society had to do something like Denazification without losing a war?

Thinking about the bloodthirstness of the Trump base when it comes to Immigration—no amount of cruelty is too much. What do you do when that’s a full third of your population?

I know this is a maddow-coded thing to bring up but it may actually be the handout one.

From 7 years ago but lmao at the quotes www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018...

I’m legit subscribing to Apple TV *just* for this. People seem to like Andor and maybe I’ll watch that too, but really I’m there for Sanctuary Moon

I grew up in Iowa, and still remember a list of, I think, 1000 potential terror targets they printed in the Des Moines Register. One of them was the Krispy Kreme in Clive. Mass shooting events weren’t yet super common, so I thought the government was expecting them to do 9/11 to the donuts??

I saw it on your blog’s recommendation last year. There really is something about it. Also loved the kilometer one a couple blocks away
