Social-emotional learning is key to a healthier society. When insecurity, instability, drug use, abandonment, fear and isolation are running rampant, the answer is not hate and violence. It is communication, compassion, connection, guidance, support, education and love. #SEL #education

The dangers of misinformation in shaping the beliefs of large numbers of people. Psychologists not only need to shine a bright light on the problem for all to see but also need to have a prominent seat at the table to mitigate the aggressive malignancy. #timeforaction #dosomething
It may seem strange to folks outside of academia, but there has been a line of prominent research within it arguing that misinformation isn't a problem. This paper pushes back, noting how those arguments often rely on poor definitions & operationalizations of what misinformation is & how it works.
In this new article in American Psychologist we respond to critics in detail and clarify two key points for the field;

(1) The prevalence of misinformation in society is substantial when properly defined.

(2) Misinformation causally impacts attitudes and behaviors.

Legit question: If EQ is so highly correlated with lifespan happiness, why isn't age appropriate areas of developmental psychology (such as regulation, coping, compassion, and problem-solving etc.) standardly taught from Pre-K on up? #devpsych

Coping with the downs in life are a skill. We can choose anger, avoidance, or productivity. It is human to have moments of anger or avoidance but it is harmful to "live there". Tap into positive steps to change what is not good.
Nurture yourself and work for what you want. #mentalhealth
