There are 4 FIA Stewards for every F1 race. I’m the 5th. I’m the Spare Steward. Formerly FCW (@charlie_whiting)
Thank God Horner didn’t get this job. When I saw those rumours I wasn’t buying the line that Adrian would be happy to have him.

#F1 is better without him and his whinging.

“The relevant measurements were even lower than those measured originally by the Technical Delegate”

If I was McLaren I’d be appealing for all the other cars to be measured again since apparently the TD’s tape measure is crap. #F1

While we’re on the subject of governance, I’d love to see paid permanent stewards who are required to provide a detailed report of findings after each decision.

If I’m going to dream, I’m going to dream big. #F1

I dream of the day when the @FIA leadership is decided my merit and vision as opposed to the opaque back-room dealing that has been its legacy.

It’s been a joke for decades. The Presidency is “handed off” to successors. No one independent ever has a chance. #F1

Is the @FIA and its governance of @F1 better after MBS became president or worse?

Its election model for decades as given a massive benefit to the incumbent. That’s why there’s only ever a change when the President decides on his own to leave.

Good luck. We’re in the era of authoritarians. #F1
"The election for the president of the FIA is over," Tim Mayer has said, who confirms his campaign for the presidency has not ended.

"There'll only be one candidate, the incumbent, and that's not democracy. That's the illusion of democracy." #F1

I saw the #F1 film. Overall I enjoyed it. The visuals on track were spectacular.

When they cut to a side by side shot of the two cars I thought we were going to be treated to a Frankenheimer homage.

Loved @wbuxtonofficial.bsky.social in it.

The new paddock buildings in Montreal are really nice. Glad the teams have a more appropriate space. Great investment. #F1

You know, Max Mosley was pretty good at his job. It was a different time, but he lead the FIA with intelligence and strength.

He and Bernie made an impressive combination. Maybe a bit too cozy, but those were the years that made this sport what it is today.

Meanwhile….

Interesting to see a race steward serve a race ban.

My tongue is bleeding.

FFS. Danica is in Montreal. I love this sport but it’s testing me. #F1

The Yuki passing under red penalty is dumb. We have carve outs for passing cars “in distress” on the formation lap or under yellow. This needs to be fixed in the Regs. #F1

Moving the Canadian Grand Prix to a slot in May THREE WEEKS after Miami is all you need to know about how #F1 is being run today.

Clown car, gong show.

I’ve had 4 tickets at the CGP for over 20 years.

Montreal in May can be COLD.

And don’t get me started on the #Indy500 conflict.

Muppets.

We knew it was coming, but it’s still very sad to hear. He put Ireland on the F1 map and he even swore at me in Irish once, thinking that I wouldn’t understand him 🇮🇪

Mark your calendars: Tomorrow (March 18), we're kicking off a two-part special digging into the explosive battle between the FIA and a consortium of teams called FOCA that nearly killed Formula 1.

Dear @FIA,

Please start publishing the #F1 Technical Directives. They are part of the regulatory framework for the sport we love (and financially support).

I’ve asked many times before, and Charlie was even looking into it as he saw some merit in the request.

Warm Regards,
TSS

What a sad way to live. His motorsport legacy will not be fondly remembered.

Kindness costs nothing. This really says volumes about Marko.
Tell us how you really feel, Helmut 😬 😬 😬

If I followed you on Twitter, do me a favour and let me know so I can follow you here. Thanks!

This is my new social media home!

I’ve packed up and left the digital hellscape that is Twitter/X.

It was fun for many years, and now it’s just horrible.

Bsky has great promise. Let’s remember the good old days of Twitter and make that the norm here.

Seeing Anthony Hamilton giving Isack Hadjar a hug and some kind words today really impressed me. With so much hostility in the world it was a special moment to see that beautiful gesture.

Pure class. #F1
