Game 1 of season 6 in the books. Lots of goals! Some actually by us! Getting to actually teach any defense at practice will be a big help - probably. Meanwhile, Beautiful Minding my equal-time roster has left me as brain spent as ever

my five year old asked for a Star Wars birthday this year and now I also kind of want a theme birthday party where I have absolutely no context for the theme or anything being referenced. Like, everybody jumps out from behind the couch all dressed as Gustav Klimt

tonight’s trip to the birthday industrial complex is hosted by MeLand. I am told it used to be an OmniFun until OmniFun went out of business

I feel like there are a lot of weeks this would be the most dystopian skeet you read and it probably didn’t crack your top hundred did it

(Book 3, 2025) “We Solve Murders,” by Richard Osman. Going to resist the urge to compare to the Thursday Murder Club books, which isn’t fair four of them in (and considering Last Devil to Die was one of my favorite reads last year).

(Book 2, 2025) “Old Man’s War” by John Scalzi. I’ve done a Scalzi book every year for the past four and have yet to be disappointed.

(Book 1, 2025) “Master and Commander” by Patrick O’Brian. Definitely the best foreign language novel I’ve read in a while!

sure, let’s start cataloguing

(Book 28, 2024) "The Battle For Spain: The Spanish Civil War 1936-1939" by Anthony Beevor (1982). A well researched, well written, absolute slog of a chronicle of a war that was a gigantic depressing mess on many levels.

Tiny’s first ice session was a blast. Wait until we tell him you can combine it with his two other favorite pastimes, “always carrying a stick” and “crashing into people at high speed”

it’s the kitties’ first Christmas and they had no idea about the amount of sugar-and-presents ferality the boys are capable of. “This… is THIS what we’re like tear-assing through the house at 5 AM? Oh. Oh no.”

La tortilla. I don’t have the sort of hubris that would lead to me attempting to video the flip, but no disaster yet another year.
