Disabled and chronically ill people deserve dignity and respect, not to be used as political cannon fodder.

There are more disabled & chronically ill voters in Australia than there are readers of the AFR; especially so now with an increasing number of previously healthy and able bodied people struggling with long-covid.

If Labor wants to be taken seriously by progressives they need to stop dog whistling to neo liberals who think disabled and chronically ill people's worth is tied to their ability to generate wealth for the capitalist class.

Subjecting disabled people to the whims of uninformed, incompetent and under-resourced Plan Managers and forcing them to use registered service providers, many of which were founded solely for the purposes of leaching public funds, is cruel, dehumanising and expensive.

All of this stems from the government's unwillingness to allow disabled and chronically ill people to manage their own funding and supports.
