Is the collateral damage low enough in your mind to just wave away as "it's sad, but maybe it will make the parents wake up?" Because I'm not comfortable with that.

One of the most hurtful things to happen to me in the last few months was losing a friend pretty much immediately after raising this issue. Suddenly it was "bad feminism" to point out that maybe there are things we can do to help boys not grow up to be chuds.

This book has been a favorite of mine for many years and is a goldmine of quotes like these, but boy is it incredibly depressing to read now that it's been thrown into such sharp relief.

Recognizing yourself as someone who has retained their critical faculties is cold comfort. The damage is done.
