Ok I think I get it. Basically every seven years the "urge" to mate becomes so strong as to override all other concerns, no matter what. Like you have to go to sleep every night no matter how much food you've eaten to fuel your body? Eventually, sleep is inevitable.

Is she saying this is how it was originally intended and subsequent writers took it too literally? Because if Spock was getting laid on the reg I'm not sure where this comes from?
