I agree with him to an extent, cost of living including housing has risen exponentially compared to salaries and many rural communities were drained of resources because of jobs going overseas in search of cheap labor.

At this point, I don’t understand living in these states. I’m so proud my grandparents and great grandparents were part of the great migration. Time to start a new one, moving to light red, purple states and slightly blue states, like Virginia.

Focusing on where you can have the most impact, which is local politics. That’s the best strategy to build power. Focus on your school board, your town and your state. Our system has so many layers.

The German healthcare system is a great model for the U.S., a universal, multi-payer system where everyone is covered by non-profit health insurance funds. Standardize benefit packages, remove profit out of healthcare and negotiate drug prices. That’s not a heavy lift, it can be done.

For example, if the incoming administration wants to revoke birthright citizenship they will need to pass an amendment to the constitution. Make sure people are aware of that lengthy process and virtual impossibility.

How can we have the best of both worlds? A public option? Better state or federal mandated plans? Higher income limits on medicaid?

I was looking at polling on this issue of medicare for all and most Americans actually like their plan, like me. We have United through my husband’s union job and it’s a great plan because the union pays for a great plan. Too many private companies offer crappy plans to save the business money.
