First the state legislature approving the option to designate 10 mph streets and now Spokane making it easy and affordable to temporarily close neighborhood streets to cars!

The @wsdot.wa.gov NSC website is telling me that the Children of the Sun trail is complete all the way south to the Spokane River (and open since June 2024!).
So why is Google taking me on a Petty > Illinois > Crestline route to Hillyard?

Starting Monday, April 7, Perry Street will be closed between 18th and 19th Avenue.

Crews will be installing a new 8-inch sewer main along Perry Street, as well as reconstructing the roadway, curbs and sidewalks.

Plans to redevelop three (now) vacant lots on Newark Ave - the corner lot previously Southside Church of Christ building - are in pre development mode.
Plans include a 4 story building with 20 1-bedroom and 23 2-bedroom units.

Holiday lights at Manito are a walk-through only event this year in the Duncan Garden!

The Friends of Manito don't have dates listed yet, but Visit Spokane lists Dec 14-22, 4:30-8:30pm

Thinking about wayfinding signs today and snapped a photo of this one in the neighborhood. Often hand painted and many decades old, many much smaller than this example, these would fall under sign regulations now. I assume most were installed with a simple neighborly handshake agreement.
