I'm almost 60 and I knew about it when I was a child. I also used to hear over and over that oil is a finite resource and we should save it for things that can't be made without it. Burning it is stupid. Different times, different worries.

ML methods can detect real patterns in data. No doubt. But big discoveries mainly come from all-new assays, esp. in bio. It takes time for enough experimental data from a particular assay to accumulate and become mineable. AI can't "magic" it out of nothing. (Long-winded way of saying: I agree 😊)
