RNZ's stock response to people who complained about the Alex story includes the claim, "The story, however, is not fundamentally about gender issues, but about the treatment and care provided to a seriously ill person."

One more round on the Resist Gender Education hosted media release from Alex's parents. It decries "activists" for using Alex's words. Their story; promoted and celebrated by Resist Gender Education who now host the media release. Activists are to blame, but this family can't recognise which ones.
