WNC mountain dweller who thinks too much, loves too hard and wishes there were more kindness in the world.🤍
On a bright note, my favorite rock survived the storm. It has always reminded me of Jerry Garcia’s handprint. And if you look closely there is a pup sleeping in the crevices. I’ve always called it Sleeping Puppy Rock. After the storm it was so nice to see that something I loved didn’t wash away. ⛰️🌄♥️

This is the biggest landslide on my side of the mountain. At the end you see just how powerful it and the creek were that day. 😔 Thank goodness my neighbors were not home when it hit. Sad to say I believe this is the landslide that did take the life of my neighbor down the creek from here. 💔

Took my first walk on the mountain since the storm. There’s been a lot of progress. But still so far to go. Our roads now feel safe to drive. And spring is coming. I’m looking forward to my farmers markets and gathering with my community as we rebuild this place we love so! 🫶🏻❤️‍🩹

I was staring out my bedroom window down the creek as I’ve done many many times before. As I started to get a little sad about the drastic change in our landscape here in WNC I noticed the little snow heart in the middle of the creek… ❤️‍🩹 The universe keeps sending me signs of healing. #WNCstrong

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

Pic 1: Last winter Pic2: After Hurricane Helene rearranged our mountain.
Same view point in both. It’s still the most beautiful place I’ve ever called home. ❤️‍🩹
