Dear Friends,

This past weekend has been something rather special indeed. From all of us at the Talyllyn Railway we cannot thank you enough for coming to the Awdry Extravaganza 2025 - so many have travelled so very far to visit our little railway and we are so very grateful.

I was gonna wait until he was done but I'm way too excited with how this is turning out.

Here's my 16mm live-steam 'Stanley'!

Still needs a '2' on the cab side, lamp irons and vacuum pipes, but he's so close now - I can't wait to fire him up soon.

We are currently in the middle of a major redevelopment project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to make sure we have the facilities we need for the next 75 years ahead!

The Railway was opened in 1865 & has never closed down, remaining an independent company through groupings & nationalisation to this day - we still run trains on our original Act of Parliament!

We are so lucky to still have both of our original steam locomotives, passenger carriages & brake van.

Day 2 of the National Festival of Railway Modelling - Come and see us at Stand 79A!

Some of the Young Members Group were at the show, and couldn't resist a photo with 'Douglas' - a huge thank you for those who been helping over the weekend.

I never get when people say they want to live in Ffaquhar or Wellsworth.

The obvious answer is Crovan's Gate

because it would have a big tesco
