the Arlesdale isn't owned by BR so won't be affected by their choices also the Beeching axe was in 1963 so before the branch was overhauled so it'd just be when the branch was nearly dead and before the AR opened

Norramby has a decent commuter service between it and Barrow plus the summer traffic would be enough to keep it open

The Railway was opened in 1865 & has never closed down, remaining an independent company through groupings & nationalisation to this day - we still run trains on our original Act of Parliament!

We are so lucky to still have both of our original steam locomotives, passenger carriages & brake van.
