Film-lover, reader, 'Mats/Westerberg/Stinson fanboy, perpetually covered in cat hair, undisciplined writer working to develop better habits, probably nowhere near as kind as my mom and wife claim but hopefully a decent human.
How did I, as a Halloween fan who lives approximately 45 minutes from Bowling Green, never know this? Knew Carpenter lived there, but not about him drawing inspiration from the area or any specific references.

They've certainly saved me multiple times over the years.

I must confess, I do too. Enough people I trust have recommended it that I've come to blindly accept it's at the very least a skilled piece of craftsmanship.
My local library has a DVD copy, so maybe I should stop blindly following and prioritize a viewing soon.

Now that it's easily accessible, SOMEONE'S WATCHING ME! (love that exclamation point) deserves more attention. Fits right in with the rest of Carpenter's amazing DARK STAR to THEY LIVE run!

I think about this a lot, how apparently right after they cut everyone scrambled to asks Cage "What song is that? We've got to get the rights!" Of course, he made it up.

Looking forward to reading this on my lunchbreak!

I've got a piece going myself on OVER THE EDGE. Figured commenting here might add some accountability, give me that extra push to finish up and post it.

I know my brother intended it to be funny, but...
Social anxiety runs in our genes. When it kicks in, I default to silently staring at my shoes, he defaults to in-your-face high volume.

To date, I've never seen the 2005 DUKES, so my primary memory of it is my brother telling Jay Chandrasekhar he "screwed it up" as he was signing autographs & taking pics following a Broken Lizard live show. 🤦‍♂️

Did anyone tell BAM management he was coming?

An unread Johnson for me. I've been meaning to take care of that since learning it's one of Nick Cave's favorite books. This is some good additional motivation.

I've yet to visit Oxford, but your posts have me convinced that that quarter sale rack is one of the most magical things in that town.

But hey, it did give us this! You may have referenced it in your article. It's bookmarked to be my lunch break read of the day, so I'll find out soon!

I was not aware of this. Going to rewatch the scene tonight with this in mind!

In my reading, I can't remember if Dreyfuss declined to participate before or after a script was completed. If the latter, I wonder if there are copies of an early draft floating around. I've always been curious how Curt's story arc would've played out.

In the early 90s (pre-home video release), I got up at 3 am to watch it on a local network's late movie. They cut quite a bit, both for content and to fit a 2 hour time slot.

Wonder what would've happened if they'd gone with the working title PURPLE HAZE.

I was in the camp that was lukewarm on Lebowski after the first viewing.

Definitely. There was a time I could never imagine leaving Raising Arizona off the list, and it could potentially reemerge in the future. I also find myself revisiting some I initially found lacking to see if they'll click.

Coincidentally, I watched season 2 episode 2 of Poker Face today, and Lyonne works in a couple of shout outs to Out of the Blue.

Also: super stoked for your Frankenstein book!

I initially misread this as "John Cassavetes" and was like "Whaaa?"
I need more coffee.
