I've been in the cycle where I set up everything to get me instant updates of the state of the world and my corporate life. And it fucking destroyed my mind. This is how humans function. Notifications are a cancer I've been iteratively excluding more and more.

+1000. My team is currently building the subdomain for one of our core systems out of necessity because we failed following this pattern previously. Would have saved us so much trouble. Thanks for articulating this, very useful!

For sure would pick UW any day. Made that change 7 years ago (34") and am terribly annoyed every time I have to use a dual-setup. Just get a window manager, e.g. moom for Mac, and you're good.
