The cherry tree looking particularly autumnal this morning. #seasonal #tree

Im keeping myself busy in the garden this today as Mouse, our 14-year-old Jack Russell, is at the vets to have some surgery on a cracked tooth. You wouldn't normally operate on a puppy of her grand age, but leaving it would be worse. So, the garden is my place to keep my mind occupied

Time to spend in the garden today. The tomato plants need clearing away, as do the cucumbers. And I need to empty the ready contents of a composter over a raised bed. But first, tea!

The veg garden is slowing down now and getting tucked away for winter. #gardening

The pinkies are here. Welcome back to my distinctive flying friends. Autumn has arrived on the Humber.

Nice little walk around my patch this morning. I heard a curlew and finally identified a bird call. It was a cetti's warbler.

Some days, only a bowl of olives stuffed with jalapeños will do. #lunch #food

Ugh, so sad. Just back from taking a dead herring gull to the Bluecross. It had been wandering about our garden all day with no visible injuries, just wouldn't fly. Then, an hour ago, it laid down and began throwing its head about. In case it was birdflu we took it to Bluecross who were so helpful.

Mouse just gave me a look that said, ‘You’re not the alpha. You’re the admin.’

The garden is looking to be on the cusp of autumn now. Not least because everything is dry and leaves on the shrubs and trees are going brown to preserve water.

I'm really quite chuffed that leaf cutter bees have chosen the Gertrude Jekyll rose in the garden. The flowers might not be useful, but clearly, the leaves are.

Garden in the early morning light.

This is why I grow patches of teasels in the garden. They are huge magnets for wildlife. Really easy to grow and are quite stunning to see as they turn from green to purple to brown through the seasons.

7.5years I've waited for my Opal plum tree to fruit. Last summer I gave it an ultimatum (while giving it a harsh prune), either it fruits this summer or it's gotta go. It heard me...

It's "flant" day here. The circling seagulls gave them away. I'll leave them alone, no need to interfere.

Hoping to turn these into home made Habas Fritas.

A year ago today, we had to say our final goodbye's to Moo after the cancer wouldn't relent. 365 days have passed, and I miss her as much as day 1. She was a beautiful dog with a heart full of love who shared it with everyone she met. I miss you with all my heart, Moo.

I was just about to shut the door, and this cute prickly hedgehog was quietly there to say goodnight 😀

There's scenery isn't there, and then there is Welsh scenery. My photo doesn't do it justice, but trust me, it's impressive 👌

I just couldn't resist trying a pod of peas. Boy, they are delicious. #gardening

Mouse decided to hide behind the blanket because a bath had been mentioned.
