Would you ask a judge to declare a house haunted? What about suing a fortune-teller for mispredicting your future? Should the law even allow these claims?

If you write about law, believer or sceptic, you can contribute to our book on Supernatural Law: Regulating the Paranormal.

In recent weeks, I've had to withdraw from conferences and professional societies because my university removed our research budget and my ability to self-fund is limited.
Given the situation in UKHE, I assume I'm not alone.
Can we think about alternative ways to stay engaged? Do others have tips?

Je *crois* avoir compris les différentes options pour le Budget 2025, si jamais ça peut être utile à d'autres.
Corrections bienvenues !

Glad to be cited in @csmonitor.bsky.social on the normalisation of state-sponsored assassinations by Israel & the US and the existence of double standards in this respect.

New review of my book by Prof. Dr. Heiko Meiertöns for the Zeitschrift für das Gesamte Sicherheitsrecht.
I'm grateful to Prof. Meiertöns for the very kind review and for allowing German speakers & practitioners to get a taste of the book's argument.

Don't get me wrong, I love doing interdisciplinary research. But - and with all due respect - do political scientists have a soul?
October 25, 2023 at 7:54 AM
Nope. That's not only wrong in principle, it's also strategically counterproductive. Violations of IntLaw (however "morally justified") are the best predictor of conflict escalation, polarization, and further violations.
"Given what is at stake" is the exact rationale for the existence of IntLaw.

#PredatorFiles France being cynical as always:
- openly signing working papers and statements supporting intlaw & EU regulation to counter the misuse of commercial spyware
- secretly bypassing EU regulation and granting licenses to allow commercial spyware export to authoritarian states

My first #ESIL2023 was a blast and I'm already on my way to #EISAPEC23 in Potsdam.
I'll be on these 3 great panels (incl. with kfg_intlaw friends) so, naturally, feel free to drop in!
Panel recommendations are also appreciated as the programme is rather overwhelming 🤯
