I don't think either US party has fully grasped who actually makes up their new voter coalition yet
It's highly unusual, too. Usually parties pick up on it fairly quickly in previous realignment periods!

You're talking about a COMPLETELY different kind of political history with a totally different conception of the relationship between the state and the individual when you're talking about W. Euro Continental nations, just for starters (and that's a lot just right there)

Also MAYBE South Africa as a point of comparison but I think that gets a little iffy, even if perhaps of *LIMITED* utility (comparisons to places like France or Germany, OTOH, are completely worthless or close to it)

(disclaimer that I'm ofc speaking in generally broad strokes--again, Mexico's presidency really DID evolve into being similar to that of the US, and there are examples of relatively stable Latin American nations, e.g., Uruguay and Costa Rica)
