It was less stupid in imagery, but stupider in practice.

The line about domestic insurrections is in reference to Dunmore's Proclamation starting a slave revolt in Virginia.

They're certainly IMPLIED in it, and I think a discussion about our founding principles vs the realities of our nation's history is more important than whether we specifically said the word "slaves" in the Declaration, I just feel we have to yield him the tiresome point, and move past it.

To be fair, the answer to his question is "No."

More purity testing from the grammatical left.

I tried to chase it back to the source and didn't find anything. Though maybe it had something to do with the fuel crisis of 76? Like, people just had reduced access to gas?

"Bro, why are you yappin'?"
April 21, 2025 at 7:02 AM
By this definition, "the gooey thing that the aperture that grants vision sits in."
Which I can get, in a way. A goldfish bowl with a partition in the middle is still just one physical "bowl", but you gotta be able to explain it clearer than this.

There is nowhere in Illinois where the closest option for coffee is a 45 minute drive to Springfield.

Listening to this song, though, does most of her music sound like she's trying for something more interesting than she's really doing for half the song, and then she gives up? Because that's the vibe I get.

I thought this was about Stacey Abrams at first, and I was like "Jesus, she got into pop music? This year is insane."

Looked into it, it seems it's Vivienne Medrano, creator of Hazbin Hotel.

To be fair, they also did it to New York.

We may never know which New York city that rally takes place in. Buffalo? Albany? Rochester?

I'm running Magic the Gathering prerelease today. 8 hours of watching other people play card games.
Which is actually better than it sounds, since I'm getting paid, and can work on other stuff for 80% of it.

If you use THAT as your baseline, conventional wisdom is MSRP should be 8-10x, depending on how rough you expect shipping to be, so 15 is the higher end, but not out of bounds.
April 5, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Actually, rereading it, it's not too weird, they’re just using a slightly different system that calculates from a different point.
"Standard" board game wisdom is MSRP is 5x "landed "cost": the total of manufacturing and shipping.
But this is referencing a 1.62 "ex-factory" (pre-shipping) increase.
April 5, 2025 at 5:19 AM
Those are slightly weird numbers, as someone who works with Board games, but they may be doing some big numbers for shipping inflation.

The way I know it is, if it costs the publisher an extra 1.60 that's 3.20 distribution, 4.80 wholesale, retailer sells for 7-9.5 more.

Le Pen is going to jail for several years.
I have already seen people calling for members of this administration to be "Mussolini'd".
April 3, 2025 at 6:53 AM
I believe you misunderstand thr argument: Will is not saying we need to enforce the laws. Will is saying "obviously, the punishments threatened by the law failed to deter this, so we must create new, much harsher ones."
April 3, 2025 at 6:52 AM
I've been saying this!
My line: $9 Million.
It's (one of) the government's "value of a statistical life" figures, so if you commit over $9 Million in fraud, you have stolen a life. Boom, done.

Maybe go down to 20% of that for attempted murder? 10?
