Hear me out, alright: So, Trump took the GOP, which was dying because its strategy of "be quietly racist" was failing, and said "obviously, we should drop the "quietly" part."

What if the secret to Dem success is being loudly elitist?

I want to remind you all that the United States is a progressive nation: already tomorrow will be far worse than yesterday could have ever been.

Obviously unlikely to ever be actionable, but I'm trying to think what a suitable punishment for this regime's members would be.
Like, America doesn't HAVE an "exile" law, but we could make one, right? Force Marco Rubio to live in Cuba for "causing a ruckus", JD Vance foisted on Greenland, etc.

On the one hand, I've cooked dinner at home for the last 5 days. I deserve a little fast food trash.
On the other hand, I know I'm probably getting some fast food tomorrow, and "cooked at home" is a lofty description for "made 6 variations on instant/frozen noodle dishes."

It's so frustrating that I got on anxiety meds last summer, because I have no idea if the reason I feel like shit all the time now is because of medical side effects or because the world went to shit immediately afterwards.

By the numbers, there is like, a 10% chance that eating an Ippei-Chan instant Yakisoba bowl gives me a sodium headache.
That stat should stand as a testament to how good they are, because I DO NOT leave H-Mart or Uwajimaya without at least 2 of the suckers.

Watching @somemorenews.bsky.social today, and it's really driving home my idea that we should implement some kind of "Boundary of Civil Harm", where (as a rough spitball), if you cross the VSL (value of a statistical life, around $10 million) in fraud or abuse, it escalates the case.

One thing I recommend doing to broaden one's culinary horizons is play a game I call "Pizza time": Pick a country at random, or based on some recent impulse (I use the daily Worldle), and look up the menu to a pizza place in that country's capital. You will learn all kinds of interesting things.

Obviously my opinion has little weight here, but I just finished the Post-Credits scene video by Patrick H Wilems, and I want to argue against his all or nothing solution, and say "You only get to keep your post credits scene if you follow specific rules." Which would be a bad counter w/o rules, so:

Every now and again, I get these flashes of insight that, until this moment, I've been assuming a phrase was hyperbole, and now that I'm experiencing it, I realize that no, they were accurately reporting.
Like, until the last couple months, "the news is driving me crazy" would mean (to me) that...

Had an anxiety attack after my monthly poetry group, and A: I've never felt more like a coastal elite, and B: I'm now trying to convince myself that we have to eat SOMETHING, so I might end up making a bachelor quesadilla for dinner.

Having a really rough day, so I was proud of myself for coming up with, and, more importantly, then refusing to use the line "the most valuable thing you could get through your skull is a 9mm round" while screaming about the Ukraine thing online.

Discovered that, in my group's Cyberpunk campaign, the DM has been doing a vague riff on Lord of the Rings (our first mission was to a guy's birthday party, we went on a world-spanning journey to discover a rogue AI that had to be destroyed), in which my character was the Aragorn.

So, bit of a weird question, but there's a famous Whitest Kids You Know sketch that talks about censorship, and the limits of free speech and government security. And I totally understand that.
But do provisional heads of executive committees not approved by Congress also have this security?

I wanna talk about a problem I see unfolding once more, that has already taken place over the last couple of years of political discourse around Trump and his flunkies. I call it "The Paladin Problem," and it's why* the left** has such a hard time organizing against Trump. Probably gonna be long.

I'm in a weird place where I had a minor medical issue just before Trump took office, so I can't tell if my malaise is political, physical, or metaphysical in origin.
Regardless, I don't like how hard my brain currently thinks, "Just heat a can of soup, man." is going to be.

The downside of trying to befriend this semi-feral cat is that getting him to hang out requires I leave the front door open in 20⁰ weather for like, 30 minutes. So by the time my apartment gets warm again, it's 10:30 PM and I haven't eaten since lunch.
January 28, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Very worrying to me that my mental health has been absolutely destroyed since Trump took office. I'm MOSTLY sure it's unconnected, but even so, that's not a trend that's likely to have a good outcome.

@fdsignifier.bsky.social Hey, FD, haven't finished the vid yet, but the background track is super loud from 9:03 to 11:30 on your new Nebula upload.
