Why do we write? Writing (together) in participatory research projects – why, for whom and how? | King's College London
We will examine how writing is perceived, the challenges, and the assumptions of writing as a colonial or extractive practice.

Back in grey cold NL. What a privilege that the women I met and know shared their spaces and lives so generously with me. I was invited to the most inspiring spaces which showed me how positive change can look like. Something desperately needed in the times we live.

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to get to know two communities in and close to Cali. Thanks again for inviting me. Both communities are extremely inspiring and show us how to create communities of care, something I hope I will be able to explore more in the future with colleagues in Cali.

That international development & cooperation is mistaken as charity by leading political figures should worry all of us. Shutting down USAID will have security consequences. E.g. no screening of people travelling by air from countries with Ebola outbreaks etc.

What an amazing workshop we had today in Medellin. It was great to be together again, share our achievements of the last years and think about future work on the role of women in urban transformations. Thanks to everyone who participated and I am looking forward working with you in the future!

Watching ‘when they see us’ episode 2 has a part in which Trump makes stupid remarks. Racist of course and just to make trouble. If we only would have known how dumb so many of the US population are voting years later and make him their hero who continues to destroy what he can.

First time in Cali. I cannot explain why yet but I immediately liked the city upon arrival. Rarely have that. After 15 years coming to Colombia it did surprise me how different Cali is and yet so familiar. Looking forward to explore more and build a network here. Give me a shout if you are around!

I already announced that I do not use my #twitter account anymore, but it’s time to delete it for good. I cannot be part of such a fascist platform. Hopefully Bluesky will become as connecting as Twitter once was. So please send the me here the interesting conferences, papers and projects 😊

I am off to #Colombia today! Has been over a year since my last trip. Looking really forward to see my co-researchers & show them the #audiovisual material based on their #displacement testimonies.
I am mostly in #Medellin but also #Cali and #Bogota. Let me know if you wanna meet up.

Finishing a book manuscript of a pretty innovative co-authored book which I will tell you more about soon. However we do publish it in Spanish and English. This helped me once again realising how working in different languages really creates a greater sensitivity of the possible violence of words...

Welcome to the challenges to come in #2025 🎉
I realised wishing a happy 2025 seems rather unrealistic. the last years I wrote messages of hope. This year I decided to just prepare myself for the next thing(s) to come. So instead I wish you all much energy to stay optimistic & keep pushing for change

Unpopular opinion but I absolutely hate fireworks. No idea why people think it is fun to create artificial warzone sound. Why do the Dutch do this all night long for days? Apart from the environmental issues the constant noise of fireworks is unhealthy & distresses animals & humans alike. Just stop!
