Also, I had no idea that Rik Mayall played Toad in "The Willows in Winter" and as of tonight I feel like he'd basically been guiding me my whole life.

I just tried to use Siri to find a quote from "Sometimes I Think about Dying" and it started to call "Emergency Services" ... I'm fairly certain—given the focus of most of the shit I write on—I'm gonna be on a list pretty soon.

You know… all of this hubbub about LibGen … it just seems so out of touch to me. I’m not defending Meta training AI on copy written material, but I wouldn’t have a single degree if I hadn’t pirated books. Not all libraries will buy books for students and academic texts are ludicrously expensive.

I was just thinking to myself about why I’m spending so much time on my intro and conclusion rather than finishing the last chapter of my dissertation and said—out loud—“well you butter the bread before making a sandwich!” I need to get out more.

God I hope this misuse of “foundational” doesn’t become the new “existential.” Well meaning liberals have a weird ability to create buzzwords. Damnit neither the Confederacy nor the Nazi party existed when America was founded!
AOC: I don’t care what Elon Musk is doing behind the presidential seal, but in this country we hate Nazis. Kind of like a foundational defining thing. Two of the foundational things about American history is that we beat the confederates and we beat the Nazis.

It just occurred to me that through a combination of illness, busyness, and general isolation via misanthropy, I’ve made it this far without hearing that accursed Mariah song once this year…

Maurizio Lazzarato argues that critical theorists have downplayed the role of civil war and class struggle in social life, resulting in a confused and pacified idea of politics. Only by restoring their centrality can we clarify our present situation.

I might be the only person I know who is dreading the end of term... I didn't teach this term (i.e.: was unemployed) and am teaching again next term with a schedule that is destined to ruin me as a human who can make words make sense.

Despite the fact that I generally really like Malabou, I have the feeling this book is going to irritate the unholy shit out of me.

You know, at least the “there are only two genders” idiots distinguish between sex and gender. Granted they probably aren’t aware of it…

Blocking Nazis, trolls, and fascists doesn’t make it an “echo chamber.” People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate trolls in order to be informed.
