Oh, these weren't Anglophones. They were very French speaking and made it clear that they don't usually align with the rest of the country.

True, but apparently it's exactly the thing to do when fighting on skates. (My city has lost 2 NHL teams, so I'm no expert)

I was only a little surprised by the consistently fierce response. I have clients in Canada, and have spent a fair amount of time in Ontario over the last 5 years, so I wasn't super surprised by that.
But the Quebec piece spoke volumes in a way many Americans can't begin to grasp.

Met many Canadians while on a cruise the last two weeks. Things I heard:

-we're nice until we aren't
-he made a joke about 51st state, so I stopped talking to him
-we chose this cruise line because it isn't owned by Americans
-we're from Montreal, and Canada is united right now

Seems to me the men we've got there now are richer than ever and care even less about the people on the streets, including vets. And they certainly aren't doing anything for the miners (or the minors on the island for that matter).
