Mostly posting music I'm listening to. Weighted towards heavy sounds. Open to recommendations. Love exploring and discovering new sounds.
Just the one beer today, as I make dinner. I think it’s my first Christmas beer of 2025. Feels a little early. But the subtle spices of Anspach & Hobday’s A Christmas Pale are very nice.

My final beer tonight. Wish I’d had this earlier, feels a little to light and clean as a finisher. Kanpai! From Bluntrock Brewery. I like it but was in the mood for something a bit heavier.

After discovering Yonder brewery’s ability to make strong beer that tastes like a smoothie last week, I’m back for more. Tropical Fool does it again. Sweet and juicy.

And to accompany my beer, some Codespeaker. First play for Scavenger, their most recent album, picked up at their gig a few weeks ago.

Picked up a few new beers for the weekend. Starting the night with a Pale Ale from The Kernel Brewery.

They understated packaging sets my expectations high, but I’ve yet to have a bad beer from The Kernel. A grassy beer with a subtle fruitiness.

Friday night vinyl. Awakening: Sleeping by Mass of the Fermenting Dregs getting its first spin. High class post punk/alt rock.

Headliner tonight - @afskyofficial.bsky.social

Felt a more storied and intimate black metal set.

Panzerfaust did not disappoint (other than having no vinyl for sale at the merch stand). Huge set. Going to be one of my highlights of the year.

Having missed photos of 3 lovely beers I do have a photo of my distinctly average pre-gig beer. House Party by LERVIG. A little too clean and sharp an IPA for me.

And now (I should mention I’m sharing these cans) a New England Pale Ale from Bristol Brewery. Bought for the pun but it tastes good.

Going to be honest, I bought this can expecting it to be odd and ultimately hard to drink. It’s a surprisingly nice sour beer. Feels like I’m drinking an innocent smoothy! Maple, Banana & Blueberry Pancakes Patty Sour from Yonder brewery.

Evening beers started with a DIPA. Buxton Brewery’s Wyoming Sheep Ranch. Strong with a nice hoppiness.

Played weird little ‘games’ at Novelty Automation that ended with me being poked in the groin or arse.

Recommended.

Visited the Tate for Picasso and a Beer. Came all the way to London just to drink Left Handed Giant. The fourth dancer DDH Hazy Pale, it’s nice and fruity.

Wandering round London today. Starting with Japanesexbreakfast (not the band). Trout Ochazuke at Koya in Soho.

Last night’s gig - Hanabie.

Merge metalcore with jpop and you end up here. Not my usual taste but I like this quirky mix.

Train beer. A can of Vienna IPA from Bristol Beer Factory. Not bad. A smooth, slightly sweet taste and I tend to prefer something punchier. But easy to drink.

Looks like I’ve got time for one more. Going out with a bang. KODOK, by The Grey.

Weighty post-metal. Amazing drums.

Mid-week vinyl? Keeping the dog company on fireworks night to No New World, by Mass of the Fermenting Dregs.

Lovely album, lovely album cover.

First Sunday in a while I’ve been able to sit down and put a record on.

Giving Every Sound Has A Color In The Valley Of Night, by Night Verse its first spin. Bought at their gig a couple of months back. High energy, heavy prog metal with amazing drum work.

Another day, another DIPA. No fancy tap room today, just a Tesco. But Buxton’s King Slayer is pretty good. Fruity and sweet.

Beer number 3 is a DIPA. I love DIPAs. Two Flints Parallel #3 did not disappoint me. It’s got the booziness I want with a clean fruity taste.

And the second beer is a very juicy IPA with great can art. Kingslayer from Dark Element Brew co. Very good.

Stumbled o na nice little taproom today. Couldn’t stay but picked up some more beer. Firstly a Trappist ale. It’s tagged funky on Untappd and that’s fair. I never thought I’d like a funky beer, but Orval isn’t bad.

I was also particularly pleased with this picture of Partholón. Feels like it captures them live.
