(5/) Best case scenario, the self-defeating and self-destructive malice and greed and paranoia of this wave of American conservatism will lead to its downfall sooner rather than later, and the cultural pendulum will swing back HARD against the religious movements responsible for such oppression...

(4/) Worst case scenario, the fascists will reach a point where, secure in their rule, they no longer need the pretense of moral authority, and the Christian right will take their turn under the bus (or on the trains, as the case may be) right alongside the targets of their spite...

(3/) As dangerous as Dominionism and movements such as the New Apostolic Reformation are, the common trait of all death cults is the certainty of their own demise, however overdue it may be. The only question is how much of the rest of American Christianity they'll take with them...

(2/) This resurgence of conservative Christianity, which they will undoubtedly view as another "Great Awakening" with varying degrees of awareness of the cultural and intellectual damage to society that name connotes, will not last forever...

(9/9) This is not a "heritage" or "traditions" that create a functional society. I don't know what I'd have to look forward to in a post-Christian society. But I know what so many have to fear from this one. And it's time we're honest with ourselves concerning whose blood we're actually washed in.

(8/9) But that's not good enough for me. I can't accept a set of rules and institutions that center me and everyone like me at the expense of everyone else. I can't embrace a "rich heritage" that's upheld an empire built on land stolen from one people using labor stolen from another...

(7/9) I'm saying this as someone who's lived within the context of American Christianity for literally as much of my life as I can remember. "Christian" institutions have been far more generous and welcoming towards me as a cishet ⬜♂️ than toward many friends/family members for whom I care deeply...

(6/9) Anyone can practice any/no faith there, so long as none is in a position to prosper at the expense of any others. No faith there is so entrenched in "heritage" or "tradition" that it can be used as a cloak for exploitation, terror, & genocide the way American Christianity has historically...

(5/8) In much of 🇺🇲, "Christianity" is the default just like the experiences, "values," & "leadership" of ⬜♂️ are the default. But a post-Christian society is just a place where Christianity (/the reactionary anti-intellectual death cult currently calling itself that here) is no longer the default...

(4/8) ...And some of you already know, however uncomfortable it may be to consider, that in broad swaths of this land, "Christian" is just short for '⬜, cisheteronormative conservatism,' and however coyly it's played, folks there have never really been shy about that...

(3/8) ...At least, not Christianity itself as defined by "the teachings of Jesus Christ." But at numerous points throughout American history "Christianity" has just been a name for whatever shade of whitewashing that iteration of ⬜♂️ supremacy has splashed over our most disgraceful atrocities...

(2/8) ...But what exactly is that? As scary as that phrase might sound to those unused to such philosophical dialogue, it doesn't mean "every trace of Christianity has been eradicated from this society," or every trace of ANY religion for that matter. Christianity itself is not the problem...

(6/6) THAT'S who you're dealing with in terms of Christian conservatism. Either they believe your suffering is itself a sign that you DESERVE to suffer, or they believe EVERYONE deserves to suffer, but all those dirty heathens EXTRA deserve it and by God, they're gonna make sure that happens.
