Felt compelled to reply because I also have a strong preference for sans serif fonts. I make a point of always, always typing my drafts out in Arial.

My husband is always talking about how cool he finds the smallest Toyota trucks. Not unnecessarily large or cumbersome, but still fits all the lumber you need for your project.

I guess you also don’t spend 40 hours a week in a retail environment though, part of my job is listening to playlists of top 40 Christmas songs from November 1 to January 1

She starts off the whole rant by saying she doesn’t support the ICE detention, as it is a violation of due process. Her argument is that Khalil is a criminal, but criminals are still entitled to due process. You may find her argument poorly structured or bad generally but that’s def her thesis.

It seems pretty clear to me that she’s defending Khalil’s rights as a permanent resident of the USA without defending his actions. I don’t understand why that’s so controversial or viewed as a negative thing. We are all on the same team here re not deporting permanent residents without due process.

Gaza was going to cost the Democrats votes no matter what - if Harris broke from Biden, she would have lost a large percentage of the Jewish vote, which was largely in her favor (about 70 percent.) Her choice to continue supporting Israel was more strategic than people think.

I have actually felt more welcome here as a center-left moderate than I’d expected. This app is, fundamentally, polite - a nice change. The discourse just lacks in the kind of rigor that forms when you have to defend your opinions instead of just sharing them.

I try to understand these arguments but from where I’m sitting, the fascists won this election resoundingly because of Democrats purity testing people who diverged on one or two issues so hard for the last 8 years that people who were otherwise convincible Democrat voters stopped engaging with them

Yeah, I’m fine with Nazis staying in their own bubble and not shitting up the discourse here, but I’d also like to see more conventional liberal democrats, moderates, and Never Trump type conservatives over here to add some variety to the discourse.

I admit I like Pete

I’ve always felt like the solution for this is for Democrats to spend more (ideally the majority of) their time and energy campaigning on economic issues without necessarily changing their positions on civil rights at all. Ditch the signaling, but keep the virtue.

I get why white supremacists etc support him, but like, his sledgehammer approach is exactly what a lot of people who “left the left” cite as their reason for defecting, only worse.

If you want to do this for real I can hook you up with my mom. Good chance she knows what poppers are too!
