Poilievre was also quiet for many hours after Bruce Fanjoy defeated him and he lost his seat in Ottawa Carleton, to be fair.

That polling would have been taken before the disaster that the past 48 hours have been for Poilievre. Wonder what the numbers would be today?

I feel exactly the same way. I have felt concern building about public education in Alberta since the UCP dismantling process began in 2019, and am now putting that energy towards this petition.
Albert used to have an amazing, world class public education system. We need that again.

There is a sitcom premise in the idea that the Poilievres have to move to Battle River-Crowfoot post-politics and truly try to make a go of it. Funniest if they move to Torrington and the Gopher Museum is featured.

We *never* were asked to put any signers' personal info through the website, email, or online in any way . That was collected to be physically given to Elections Alberta at the end of the campaign only.

He briefly mentions the campaign being IT/AI based , probably referring to the website, which quickly evolved into such a useful tool for us volunteers to register events over the course of the campaign. I imagine AI was also used to streamline repetitive communications with volunteers.

Here is a recent interview with Rob Breakenridge that might provide some clarity on the process. Lukaszuk mentions that the signature sheets, once verified, are destroyed by Elections Alberta "like ballots". youtu.be/k5bhQvUzPwk?...

That article just doesn't match my experience as an active canvasser. Elections Alberta has custody of all the signature sheets which will be destroyed after verification per the very strict legal rules around Citizen's Initiative campaigns.

I just know we volunteer canvassers were never `deployed by AI' and that all info from those who signed was handwritten on sheets of paper that was collected in the final days and handed into the Elections Alberta in dozens of banker boxes. When & how exactly would "AI" have gotten that info?

I think he wrote a sloppy opinion piece, given his wrong wording for our very simple petition question, and probably misunderstood.
I believe AI might have been used in communications with canvassers? Like, when many of us emailed with questions about whether we needed to ask for a postal code?

I fully expect clarification from the campaign detailing how and where Braid got it wrong.

I was an active Forever Canadian volunteer and there was zero AI dispatching us anywhere. We figured it out ourselves - we organized ourselves by community, chose locations, created/edited our own signing events on the website, and advertised ourselves. Braid even misquotes the petition question.

And I'd probably never have signed a petition in a park before this myself. Thanks are due to the hundreds of thousands of Albertans who understood the importance of this and stepped up to sign.
