I did find a SINGULAR piece of evidence against Native Yoshis
even after you unlock Yoshi, in later episodes, this guy will continue to say the Yoshis are not on Delfino
However, he says this in previous episodes, this screenshot is the red coin ship mission.

There is even an egg generator in the files, assumingly pointing towards them having the idea of making Yoshis goop monsters before backing out
so Sunshine Yoshi ends up a mishmash between being Delfino natives, but also being weird and dying in water like the goopy creatures

Nah, they're native to Isle Delfino, the mission to get them is about the invasive koopas scaring them away, which is why they only appear after killing the koopas.
