My local arcade had this going till about 5 years ago. I missed it the moment it was gone, parts missing and all.
After almost 25 years of wanting one, I finally managed to buy one. Namco's Panic Park is a fairly rare arcade cabinet that I played endlessly in the basement of Cairo's al-Serag mall, with all the bruises and laughter and yelling that playing this game entailed. It'll arrive next week. Can't wait.

It feels like Game Developers have it worse than restaurants lately.

One "bad" dish/off day and the restaurant may lose one customer.

One game that misses its mark and down the studio crumbles.

The biggest news for many Switch 2 third party games is that so many are Game Key Cartridges (download the game but can pass the physical cart around)

I would really rather not. If that's so, then maybe I should just buy a pc handheld and go all digital.

And that's a wrap on The Hundred Line Last Defence Academy. Great visual novel. Gameplay could have had more variation, but story drives you through.

My first 2nd route was Coming of Age's good ending. Had a good laugh at the tropey-ness of it all.

Last route was the bad ending of SF.

Today marks the 6th month of this year where I've been doing daily workouts in Rhythm Boxing: Fist of the North Star.

It has actually been 8 months in a row now since I started last year at the end of October.

Mostly been the long sessions of daily workouts.

IT IS PART OF THE FUCKING JOB! AND IF PUBLISHERS ARE JUST FINISHING FUND COMPANIES THEN THEY AREN'T PUBLISHERS THEY'RE JUST LOAN SHARKS!

(And I am fully qualified and certified to say this.)
Attended a few talks recently, and the advice on funding / publisher support seems backwards to the consensus of even a few years ago.

If publishers expect devs to take on all the risk before making a commitment, then what is the offer? What risk do they shoulder?

Risk is part of the job, no?

Holy fuck being this open and honest is brave.
If I can pay off my debt early and secure enough operating funds for the company, I’d love to get started right away.
But right now, we’re still on the brink of going under.
If The Hundred Line turns out successfully profitable and rescues TooKyo Games from its indebtedness. How long would it take to port the game to other gaming platforms? If possible? Added, what length of time will foreign-language users have to wait for translation and localization, if possible too?

Last night I was asked to reshare a talk I did back in 2017, which didn't get filmed the many times I gave it.

Let's do it as a thread. I've not done an informational thread on here before, interested to see how folks like it.

(forgive obvious stuff, it was ever so slightly fresher 8 years ago)
