I guess I'm mostly just kind of disappointed and saddened that a lot of people appear to be treating this as small business Saturday and less actual attempt at activism, however small it might be.

I think if they had worded it differently and had been like "look if you need to buy something that our product will support. Consider our brand instead of a bigger big box brand" that would have been different.

Like I get it in late stage capitalism. Being a small business owner is hard. I've been there. I've helped do it. My mom's business failed. But one day is not going to make a difference on whether or not Target carries your product. Especially if nobody is shopping at Target that day.

Not only does this put the onus on making a successful company directly onto the consumer, but it also completely misses the point of why people are boycotting in the first place.
It comes off as selfish and opportunistic.

It wouldn't have been so bad, I think, if they hadn't then doubled down in the comments after being called out, to suggest that if people didn't buy their brand specifically today, then places like Target would stop carrying them.
