and sometimes I feel that how I am expected to be around my family doesn't mesh with how I am expected to be in queer spaces, much like the divorced parents from when I was growing up, it's another thing attempting to tear me into two halves when I'd rathe stay whole...so it's complicated.

To me, when I think of culture I think of my family, of traditions, of recipes that have been passed down to me, of cultural clothing (look, look, I've had my eyes on another vyshyvanka, ok?), something that goes back generations for centuries--does this makes sense?

This really was a "it was the middle of the night and I was in my feelings" post, If you feel there is a trans culture, that's fine, I'm no gatekeeper. I was othered by my peers long before my queerness came into it (don't feel sorry for me, I am very proud for my cultural background)-

It's always a win when I see other queer people not having too hard of a time coming out and being open tbh, whether you were just lucky or whatever, I hope it only continues to look upwards

Yeah, I get it, it’s a topic with both a lot of baggage and nuance, bc it feels like when people claim queer culture it’s come from lgbt people with specific cultural influences just...being queer, which is different from a "homogenous queer culture"

Big same, I prefer alcohol to weed, but with good company I'm down for either

attempt to push trans people away from transitioning, and to act so...contempt? Towards younger trans people who are now stepping up and creating and moving things forward--idk, I hate it
November 14, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Obviously I think it's important to have nuance when talking about trans people who've faced transphobic violence, but it's so fucking disturbing to me that she claims to have helped "build the foundations for transgender rights" got her name out there, and is now using that to-
November 14, 2025 at 4:36 AM
yes, it's a memoir of a trans man so it certainly leans more binary, but it discusses transphobia as it affects different kinds of trans people and trans joy as an act of resistance, I think there's a universal element to a lot of its themes
