Another core tenet of antitransmasculinity is treating the body of a trans man as somehow not really male, as mutilated, and as though his body should be for others and not himself. His body exists in this story as a metaphor for progress and bridging masculinity and femininity, but also as an object to enact violence on. He doesn't get to be a man without experiencing the full "suffrage of women", and in forwarding those experiences, he doesn't get to be seen as or referred to as a man anyway. The justification I have commonly seen in positive reviews for this is that he is nonbinary, except that being nonbinary does not take away from his transmasculinity, it doesn't make him "basically still a woman", and treating nonbinary transmasculinity as a form of womanhood is a manipulative attempt to pull transmasculine people away from transition for the sake of a sisterhood based on oppression. If this view of feminism, the view that I believe is weaved throughout Frankissstein, cannot conceptualise a word in which women are not oppressed under patriarchy--then it is not feminism

alright, I've begun writing part one of "Trans men/mascs in storytelling", I've been making notes and logging info for months, so I'm hoping to have this out in a week or two, but yk, apologies if I don't
Of the 30 pieces of media we will discuss today, that to some extent feature transmasculinity: 20/30 feature a transmasculine lead character and/or centre transmasculine experiences (bearing in mind I have been specifically seeking out author diversity and media of this nature); 18/30 are created by people who are openly transmasculine; 21/30 have LESS than 100 ratings/reviews (at the time of my documentation, these numbers are obviously subject to change, and I hope after people read this, they do); 19/30 have LESS THAN 50; it bears repeating: 63% of the pieces of media that I’ve found and consumed for this project, that in some way feature transmasculinity, have less than 50 reviews/ratings. Many of these have been available for a year, or longer.

I need to sit on this, but I have a direction, I think.
I certainly didn’t act like a lady. I got into fights, I talked back to people I hated, I was “defiant”, I was too aggressive. And for being this way, I got diagnosed with a list of disorders and put on four medications by the age of seven. I was called dangerous by teacher’s aids because I fought back when they physically restrained me, or locked me in rooms, or refused to let me use the restroom. It is often said, in your average ghost hunting show, that demons take the forms of little girls to look harmless and innocent to humans. The concept that if a little girl is indeed not a little girl, she must be some kind of beast. In ND Stevenson’s Nimona, Nimona is at one point referred to as “A monster in the form of a girl”–The worst part about this, is that we’ve internalized it. I was a monster in the form of a girl. And then I became a man, which arguably, isn’t much better.

Male to female transsexuals do not transition and regret it at anywhere near the same rates. Never have. Gudule Martens: Because it's a social contagion. I was uh...struggling yesterday, but since I started it, I'll share my rough draft with you rn
The place of men in feminism It is unambiguous that if a man is to be a feminist, then his position is that of learning of his male privilege, learning the struggles that women face, and aiming to dismantle the societal oppression of women. It is also unambiguous that through the eyes of radical feminist theory, under the basis of “men oppress women to stay in power” that the duality of men and women is that of the oppressor and the oppressed. So when we talk about trans people, how do dynamics and theory written about cis men and cis women, theory about the sex based discrimination of cis women, how does that work with our understanding of trans people? It is morally abhorrent to side with the oppressor, therefore is it morally abhorrent for a woman to become a man? And do we assume that the goal of the trans man is to transition out of oppression? It has been argued that transmasculine people “betray their sisters” by transitioning, therefore, we cannot leave that unexamined.

In my "I'll read Stone Butch Blues eventually" mindset, I was actually more interested in lesser talked about writings by Feinberg, and generally anxious of how to analyze it due to how contested Feinberg's writing is in terms of "which kind of trans it belongs to", so let's start here.

I won't disclaim this in all my theoryposting, but as this blog post is sort of a...intro? Into future things I plan to write, It felt right here. I struggle with theory where the author talks as an authority, the whole point of theory is to get your gears turning so that you think for yourself
This is not a question for me to answer, I can't tell you what transmasc theory is, I can only talk about transness from my lens of understanding. How you as a reader choose to label and dissect it comes after my author's death.
