Hierarchy is not the source of rules, but is actually opposed to them.

If you turn the music all the way up does the world outside your headphones still exist? Tiny Mastodon by @liamleroux42.bsky.social
Some more pictures from the Kite Festival... Am I supposed to put some kind of hashtags on these? I don't know what the deal with that stuff is.

I haven't gone through all the pictures yet, but here are a few shots from the kite festival today at the Halifax Citadel. All 500mm f/8, I think.

Repost your profile pic, if you wish.

Mine is this painting @liamleroux42.bsky.social did for me, the album cover for the soundtrack of a lost movie I made up, cropped in to focus on the mammoth. (There are a few CD copies floating around, but they sadly predate this wonderful art.)

It seems like people a long way south of me are seeing more of the Northern Lights than I have, but it was a nice night to hang out on the beach hoping for a shot of them, anyway.

Mostly for the Dust Brothers remix.

Dream Killer, AKA Troy Merrick, enters for his match against Backwoods.

And they immediately turn on each other.

Opening match: A three-way between Duce (in black), Big T (blue) and Halifax's own Rudy Lockhart (red). Duce and Big T briefly cooperate to crush Rudy between them.

Well, @liamleroux42.bsky.social, you were right. Had the 85mm f/2 on all night wide open. Honestly I could have brought the 50mm f/1.5 and gotten use out of it - next time I guess. (They actually told me I could use flash, but I don't have one.)

Lots of RAWs to try to save from under exposure...

720nm infrared, blue/red channel swapped in post. (And, okay, the vignette and a little distortion added in post too - trying to make a virtue of that lens flare, I didn't bring a hood or a polarizer.)

One of the fog pictures from yesterday.

I was out trying to get some fog pictures this morning (mixed results) and noticed this juxtaposition. ~700mm (500mm mirror lens on a 1.4x teleconverter), hand-held. (Contrast significantly enhanced after the fact.)

I call it "OneupsmanSHIP".

To lighten the mood a little, here's another shot from the full-spectrum camera, in the Halifax Public Gardens:

Most of my pictures from Sunday night require some cleanup - my Jupiter-3 is fast, but not fast to focus - but these came out quite clear.

I'm too tired to go through all my pictures from the Gaza demonstration tonight, but I cleaned this one up a little at least. It seemed serendipitous.
November 13, 2023 at 2:13 AM
With the right white balance, some of the full spectrum pictures look pretty good.

I opened up my old point-and-shoot camera and took out the IR filter. It will look better when I get some different filters to replace it with, but at any rate it still works.

Surprisingly fine sailing weather for the time of year.

When I can't deal with things now, I'm going back and editing some of my photos.

I mostly goosed the contrast here until it looked like I remember. Not bad. Sort of peaceful.

The stress got bad enough I had to start deep frying.

Oh, yeah, I'm back maybe. A little.
